January To Do List

January always seems to be a busy month for me. Not as crazy and jam packed as December, but there are quite a few big events that happen this month. So between planning for those, getting back on track after a bit of a December lull, and finishing up a few things around here, I find it so important to write down a few "to do's". I thought this would be a great way to hold myself accountable to actually do them and share with you all some of the things I'll be doing in January! So here is the first of many monthly to do lists!

Firstly, I think it's always fun when you can start off the new year and have something to look forward to. Especially around here, once January hits winter really starts to, well not be so fun. So booking a vacation or little getaway is top priority! We've been looking in to all our options, and we are highly favouring a Caribbean vacation, but we are also suckers for a spring time getaway to a fun new city! Either way it will be great to mark it down on the calendar and have something to look forward too!

Nicole, clean up your emails! I hate to admit it but it has been, well, months (yikes) since I have cleaned up my email. I was so proud of myself last spring when, for the first time ever, I sorted through all my emails and organized them accordingly. But ever since then I have let it build and build, so enough is enough! It's time for me to buckle down and just get it done!

Next, if you guys haven't heard of Lara Casey's Powersheets then go (as quickly as you possibly can) here. They are life changing. And no I do not use that term lightly. I've been following Lara for a few years now but actually did her goal setting series last spring! It's never to late to make some goals for the year! And it was one of the best things I did not only last year but for myself in general. Because of that I knew this year I needed to purchase her Powersheets and I am so glad I did! I have been slowly making my way through them, but I definitely need to just put some time aside and focus on them with no other distractions!

Finally, and something a little more fun on the list is to go skating outside! I have decided that I need to implement date night once a week. This does not have to be anything major, or even something that makes us spend money. We just need to schedule one night a week where we don't come home, make dinner, and sit around watching TV, so glamorous right? So I decided at some point this month we need to grab some skates and hit the ice! I love skating, it has always been one of my favourite things to do in the winter. And since we have an outdoor rink literally seconds from where we live, it's silly not to take advantage of it!

Is there any "to do's" you guys are looking forward to doing this month?

Pretty In Pink

Club Monaco Coat, Forever 21 Bow Clips, Kate Spade Journal, Tory Burch Cross-body, Joe Fresh Sweater, Baublebar Earrings, Forever 21 Beaded Top, Joe Fresh Blouse, Tory Burch Tote, Gap Pants

I have a confession. I am obsessed with pink. I don't know what it is lately (maybe something in the water?), but I love all things pink. I have never been or considered myself a "pink" type of girl. I've always liked the colour, but always gravitated to purples, blues or yellows. I think since this colour had such a big surge in style, especially this past fall and winter, it's making me crave some and jump on the pink bandwagon with everyone! I love the idea of wearing it in the winter. It took me a little while to get over that "it's not your typical winter colour", but I think that's why I love it even more! Let's be rebellious and wear pink in the gloomy days of winter! Here are just a few of the pink pieces I have been thinking about lately!

I absolutely love the pink coat by Club Monaco. I love that it makes a statement all on its own and who doesn't love gold buttons on a coat! Naturally I had to add a journal, because yes I have a journal collecting habit (problem), but who could resist this Kate Spade journal? I love the bright pink colour and the fun ribbon page marker! Another surprising appearance on this list are the Baublebar earrings. I should let you know I'm a one pair of earrings type of girl. I wear the same studs day in and day out (so exciting I know). I've just never been a huge earring person, but recently I have been seeing and loving drop earrings and I think I definitely want to give them a try. This pair from Baublebar would be a great fit because they aren't too large and over the top, probably a good pair to ease myself into!

Hopefully we can all add some of these pretty pink things to our closets, and hey they are also the perfect pieces to kick start spring! I think I might be ahead of myself, but it's hard not to wish that spring was around the corner seeing as it is -20 or so here. A girl can wish right!

Let's Do This 2014

Happy New Year everyone and welcome to the new and improved Style of Living! I'm so excited for the new design to be all finished and to finally share it with you. It was perfect timing to unveil the new design and kick off 2014 all at once! You guys, it's 2014 already! Where does time go these days? Either way I am beyond excited for this year. It might slightly be because 14 has always been my lucky number (actually never really lucky, I just claimed it as that...), I even went as far as making my first email address (in grade 5) totally14. I'm actually really surprised that email address didn't stick. Ok but besides my awesome 10 year old email address, I think this year will be one of the best yet! And I'm so ready to put in the work to make it just that. So instead of making a traditional resolutions list, I wanted to just share some of the things I hope to do more of in 2014!

I'll say it again, and probably many many more times this year, but 2014.... Let's Do This!
